Welcome
Mission Statement
"Providing an art program for students
with disabilities. Promoting creativity,
dignity and community integration."
The History
Donna Lexa Community Art Center was established in 1985. Donna’s dream was to provide an environment of creative expression for specialized populations. “Artwork is an extension of the person. If the artwork is accepted, the artist is accepted. That stimulates independence, self confidence, and motivation.”
Donna's Story
Dorothy Bisek was a teacher and friend of Donna Lexa. To keep the memory of Donna alive, here are Dorothy’s memories.

Our Work
We nurture artistic creativity and expression with individuals experiencing physical or other types of health conditions. We provide fine art instruction in community centers, participating hospitals, and numerous outreach sites. Classes are small, usually 6 to 10 students per class. Typically there are several different types of materials in progress at any given time. As much choice as possible is left to the student for project selection and artistic expression. Materials and special adaptations are included in the class fee.
